Travel Tools

What follows are some of the websites, tech, tools and other nifty things I'm using as I travel. They're helping me stay organised, safe, connected, and sane along the way! Some of the links below are affiliate links (they're marked * so it's clear). This means if you purchase from the business I may receive a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. I then use that money towards website costs and travel (so I have something to share here!). Note: every single one of these things is something I'm genuinely using and either have- suggested or would suggest to friends and fellow travellers (I've even got my Mum using WhatsApp!). ðŸ™‚

Google Translate

This has been amazing in so many ways and I often use it to prep for communicating in a new language

Google Lens

THE most amazing tool that instantly translates any text on your phone screen - great at grocery stores!

HERE WeGo

This is my primary map app. I save maps and locations for offline use and use it every single moving day

Google Maps

I've also got Google Maps on my phone as a backup and have used it in offline mode a couple of times

Booking.com

So far I've been using booking.com for all of my accommodation - hostels and apartments

Trusted Housesitters*

A website offering house and pet sits all over the planet - I've just applied for my first sit!

HerHouse*

Meet up or stay with ID verified women around the globe. 10% off with the code SARAH10

Travel Ladies

A free app connecting solo female travellers, unlike HerHouse it's not ID verified but it's still helpful

Nord VPN*

Keeps my data, my computer and my documents safe when I'm bouncing from WIFI network to WIFI network

Dashlane*

THE best password management tool. Click to use my affiliate link and get 6 months free when you join

Travel Insurance*

This is an absolute non-negotiable when travelling and I've got flexible, ongoing coverage from Safety Wing

Octopus Group*

One way I make a few extra bucks here and there is by filling out surveys through Octopus Group

Insight Timer

A shameless plug, I know, but I also use Insight Timer to support my own meditation practice while I travel

SIM Cards

Because my phone is old I can't use eSIMs at the moment so I've been buying a local SIM in each country

Google Drive

I use this to send healing notes and oracle card readings to clients as well as sending travel pics to my Mum

Google Calendar

I know there are apps out there but I manage everything - travel, work, life in the one Google calendar

Instagram

This is where I share regular snaps from my travels. You'll find me at @SarahTravels.com.au

WhatsApp

Brilliant for messaging and making calls wherever you are in the world - all you need is internet

Audible

I'll always be a  'physical book' fan, but weight is an issue so I've finally switched to audiobooks on Audible

Spotify

For epic playlists on long bus and train rides. Spotify also has a huge library of audiobooks now too

I'll continue to add to and update this list as I travel. I also plan to write a few blog posts about some of this stuff - like tech for travel, house and pet sitting etc. - in a little more detail. I hope it's helpful.
