Hi! I'm Sarah
I like to joke that this (photo) is me rocking the 'plastic Christmas tree' look. It's also a very real goal that this becomes a 'before' photo - that I can look back in a little while and laugh at how overpacked I was, y'know before I figured out how to pack properly for my travels!
But seriously, I'm Sarah. I hail from Adelaide, South Australia and I'm figuring out solo travel at age 46.
I've been fortunate to do a bit of solo travel in the past, as well as trips with friends, family, and partners over the years, but never quite like this. This time I've got a one way ticket and I can do my work as an energy healer and meditation teacher online. So the world really is my oyster at the moment which I'm incredibly grateful for. (Side note - you'll find my healing meditations on Insight Timer and YouTube).
I don't exactly have a plan for my travels, but my aim is to go slow, stay in each place for at least a week or two (longer if possible) and really soak up the atmosphere, learn a little of the languages, and suss out the best gelati spots as I go.
This website is mainly to share what I'm doing and seeing with friends and family, but in case any of it's helpful to other travellers I thought I'd share some of the things I learn along the way.
I'm also learning a little more about conscious, ethical travel - travel that's good for the soul, good for the planet, and also good for the communities we, as travellers, are so incredibly fortunate to get to visit and explore.
The vibe around here definitely won't be polished, fancy or glamorous. It'll be unfiltered, honest, and shared through the lens of an everyday soul who has a heart full of desire to see and experience the world. I hope there's something here that's helpful, enjoyable or entertaining for you - even if it's just me and my enormous backpacks.
Sarah x
P.S. If you're into Instagram, I'm sharing photos of my trip at @SarahTravels.com.au
P.P.S. In the early days of this website, you'll find it looks a lot like a template, complete with stock shots - that's because it is. However, this means I can start sharing my travels straight away and I can customise the site as I go and replace some of the stock photos with pics from my own travels. Done is better than perfect and if I wait for perfect, I'll never hit publish!
Having said that, the header photo on this page is a picture I took at a beautiful place called Martin Brod in the Una National Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
